My First Click

Background

Well I dont know where to start, i really don’t know anything about writing but i can guarantee you that most of the accountants are like that. Yes you guessed it right you are reading a blog of an accountant, seems boring? I bet it is but that’s how i bought my computer and writing my first blog so as long as it’s feeding me it’s not boring to me at all.

Now enough with the accounting! This blog is all about photography and believe it or not I love photography and I would love to hear from you if I am good or do i really need to focus on my accountancy instead.

First Click

Now let’s talk about first click. I am sure at some stage of your life you must have clicked the little round button on camera to capture something good or not so good, I also did that and that was quite a while ago (around 20 years ago) I still remember we used to rent a Yashica Mf-2 camera when ever we had to take some pictures and now I am a owner of reasonably good DSLR along with few lenses. You wont believe this but I did not own a camera until 2007 when I bought my first Olympus digital camera (thanks to accountancy again). I used that camera a-lot to take photos of each and every corner of Dublin, don’t worry I am not going to share all those photos with you.

I bought my first DSLR in April 2007 when We were going for camping in south of England. I spent £500 for D5000 and took lot of picture because I thought digital cameras have unlimited life where actually they don’t and each camera have limited life (measured by shutter count) !. For 1.5 years i was shooting on auto setting and I did’t really want to learn about any of the boring manual settings.

It was May 2012 when God blessed me with little angel and I got excited about taking her pictures in manual setting since then I never took a single photo with auto setting and I love it.

Photography

It was late in 2012 when I really got excited about photography and I sold my D5000 to buy a D300 , a month later I bought my first prime lens and I am really happy with both of them. Photography is really expensive hobby and you can’t really afford it if you do not earn enough. I don’t so I am happy with my D300 but if you could afford then you should go for full frame DSLR.

If you already know little bit about photography or own a DSLR then you should be familiar with Shutter speed, F-stop, Aperture, death of field, focus point etc.. I am going to use lot of these words when ever i get chance to impress my readers :).

I will talk about some technical stuff in my second blog but let me share with you couple of photos here. Just to let you know I shoot most of my photos in manual setting and adjust them in camera raw, i love working in Camera raw and hate working in Photoshop somehow I feel camera raw gives you more control as a Photographer.

I am a professional accountant so that’s why I am not a professional photographer but I wish I was because I love nature, travelling and taking photos. You guessed it right Photography is my hobby and therefore I don’t hate any criticism and on the other hand although I am still learning I would love to help any of the beginner Photographers out there.

I learned it very late but to all new Photographers out there if you love it then you need to have followings.

1) A DSLR Camera (does not matter entry level or professional)

2) A good tripod (specially if you love landscape or night photography)

3) Photoshop

4) Computer 🙂

and you need to learn about manual settings of your DSLR and Camera Raw. Once you are use to it then you would hate taking photos with auto setting.

My Work

Like most of you I am on Facebook, twitter and 500PX so please feel free to follow me/add me and apperciate if you like my work. I don’t really use Flickr I prefer 500PX instead because you can see camera settings over there and that’s where I learned lot of things to experiment.

I have not really sold any of my photo however I would not mind if some one would like to hang my photo in their living room, so for all potential buyers I have opened a little store on etsy.com.

Still Eye Photography on ETSY

For each of my photo I will share my settings if you would like to try it yourself.
